Pioneer Athletics Inaugural Special Olympics

On September 7, 2019 Pioneer Athletics hosted the Inaugural Special Olympics Events. "A Day with ALL Athletes" was the motto for the Fall 2019 event.  On this day Pioneer Athletics welcomed 65 Special Olympics athletes from Bay, Midland, and Saginaw Counties. All Pioneer student-athletes were on hand to run the station that our guest participated in. Basketball, Softball, Soccer, and Golf were all the events that the athletes participated in over a four-hour time frame. The event ended with a pizza party.

Director of Athletics Dionne McCollum stated, "The event was a huge success. This was our welcome to our community to know that Pioneer Athletics is a family and our community is a huge part of our family. This event was two sided, it provided a day in the life of a pioneer student-athlete to these unique athletes while also providing a learning experience, growth, and develop for our student-athletes. We are excited to make this event a yearly staple for Pioneer Athletes."

The free event is one that Pioneer Athletics looks to build upon yearly. Each year the event will be bigger and better.

Pioneer Athletics would like to thank our community sponsors U Me Paint Experience, Next Play LLC, Sean & Cassandra Williams, Sandlot Sports, Write Your Plan.
