Delta Men's Basketball Falls Short to SC4 73-79
Delta College came up just short on the road, falling 79–73 to St. Clair County Community College on November 25, 2025. After a tight first half in which Delta trailed 27–26 after one and went into halftime down 52–40, the Pioneers fought back in the second half but could not erase the deficit. St. Clair's efficiency and late-game execution ultimately made the difference.
St. Clair County Community College opened the game strong offensively and maintained steady control throughout, scoring consistently in both halves.
Despite the loss, Delta delivered several standout performances. Sir Real Smith had a dominant night, scoring 36 points on 15-of-25 shooting while adding 12 rebounds for a double-double. His interior presence set the tone and kept Delta within striking distance throughout. Jaylen Carthan contributed 9 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals in 37 minutes, impacting the game on both ends. Brandon Bossert added 4 points and 5 rebounds, while Justin Watson chipped in 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Amari Taylor provided valuable minutes with 5 rebounds and steady defensive effort.
Off the bench, Dovydas Kalinskas gave Delta a much-needed spark, scoring 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field and knocking down three threes. The bench unit helped steady the pace during key stretches, but St. Clair's balance and late-game shot-making proved too much to overcome.
Delta shot 40.8 percent from the floor and held a 37–22 rebounding advantage, including 14 offensive boards. However, the team struggled from beyond the arc at 27.3 percent and committed 15 turnovers, which St. Clair converted into meaningful scoring opportunities.
The loss drops Delta to 2–4 on the season, while St. Clair improves to 4–4. Delta will look to regroup and carry over the strong individual performances as they continue to build consistency heading into their next matchup.
