Delta Rallies Late in Game 2 to Earn a Split with Schoolcraft

Entering the contest, Delta was sporting an Unblemished Conference record at 4-0. With Schoolcraft as the opponent, wins were going to be hard earned. 

The first game, featured a bevy of runs early from the Ocelots who scored the first four runs of the game. Delta responded by cutting the lead down to just a two run deficit at 5-3, when Schoolcraft added an insurance run, extending the lead back to three which is what the final margin with Delta dropping their first league contest by a score of 6-3. Kalen Tchorzynski and Kayla Gauthier both drove in a run leading the Lady Pioneer offense.  

Game two featured a similar story to that of the first, as Schoolcraft jumped out to the early 6-1 lead over Delta. This set the tone for the late inning heroics including an inside the park home run from Sophomore Makenna Smith. By the end of the top half of the seventh inning, Delta had scored six runs and turned their deficit into a one run lead. Alexandria Appold got the start in game number two and after getting behind early, pitched flawless in the final two innings to play a vital role in the comeback win. She retired the Ocelots in the seventh inning to record the complete game victory for the Lady Pioneers. 

Overall, Delta will be pleased with the way they battled back in game two and will look to build on that momentum in their next game against Alpena.
