Lumberjacks’ Offensive Explosion Sinks Delta in Alpena Doubleheader

Delta College was swept in a midweek doubleheader at Alpena Community College, falling by scores of 9–5 and 17–1 as the Lumberjack's offense erupted.

Game 1: Alpena 9, Delta 5
Delta took an early lead in the first when Hannah Hycki's RBI single put Delta on top, but Alpena answered in the fourth with a run-scoring hit by Kenna Tippman to knot the score. In the fifth inning, the Lumberjack's broke the game open with a seven‑run outburst—highlighted by Tippman's three‑RBI homer and solo shots from both Kenna Neubecker and Reagan Sides—turning a 2–1 game into a 8–2 rout. Delta chipped away with two runs in the seventh (Cadence Swartz delivered an RBI double, and Katie Chinavare added an RBI single), but Taylor Krentz settled in for Alpena, cruising seven innings with six strikeouts to earn the win. Geena Gauthier took the tough‑luck loss, surrendering ten runs (eight earned) on ten hits and fanning 13 over six frames.

Game 2: Alpena 17, Delta 1
Alpena wasted little time in the nightcap, plating two in the first and three in the second before never looking back. Emilee Modrzejewski paced the attack with a 3‑for‑3 performance and two RBIs, while Kirsten Neubecker launched one of three Lumberjack's homers and drove in four. Kenna Tippman and Alaina Neubecker also went deep, part of a 15‑hit barrage that featured contributions from seven different hitters. Delta's lone run came in the fifth when Hycki delivered an RBI single, but starter Eliana Rodriguez was tagged for 17 runs (eight earned) on 14 hits in five innings as Alpena coasted to the mercy‑rule victory. Krentz again picked up the win, allowing just one run over five innings.

Midweek Recap
Delta falls to 8–24 on the season after a challenging day in Alpena. While Hycki and company showed flashes at the plate, Delta's pitching staff was unable to contain a potent Lumberjack's lineup.
