Delta Dispatches Terra State in Midweek Sweep

Delta College completed a sweep of midweek visitors Terra State, cruising to a 5–1 win in Game 1 before closing out a 6–0 shutout in Game 2.

Game 1: Delta 5, Terra State 1
After a scoreless first two frames, the Firebirds got on the board in the third when Megan Mankey drove in Geena Gauthier with an RBI single. In the fourth, Jolie Buschlen added an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 2–0. Delta broke the game open in the fifth with a three‑run uprising: Brooke Halyckyj's two‑run single capped the rally, and Kennady Tiitola scored on a throwing error. Geena Gauthier was dominant in the circle, tallying five strikeouts over four shutout innings before Cadence Swartz slammed the door with three innings of one‑run relief. The lone Terra State run came in the fourth on an unearned tally against Swartz.

Game 2: Delta 6, Terra State 0
In the second game, Delta's offense wasted no time. Eliana Rodriguez delivered an RBI single in the first, and Hannah Hycki followed with another run‑scoring knock to make it 2–0 after one. Kortney Kotenko's two‑run single in the second extended the lead to 4–0, and Annabelle Carlson added an RBI single later in the frame. A third‑inning double by Alicia Candelaria and a run‑scoring triple from Geena Gauthier capped the scoring. Rodriguez spun two perfect innings in relief of starter Geena Gauthier, striking out one while holding Terra State hitless.
