Delta contines it's winning streak shutting out Alpena 12-0
The Delta College Pioneers continued their impressive run of form with another conference road victory over Alpena Community College on October 4, 2025. Demonstrating remarkable discipline and consistency on both sides of the ball, the Pioneers showcased their offensive depth with goals from nine different players and assists from seven.
It took less than two minutes for Delta to strike first, as Avery Dean played a well-timed negative ball to Anna Weston, who calmly finished to put the Pioneers on the board. Just moments later, Weston assisted Paige Freed for the team's second goal in the 3rd minute. Ciara Kelly then added two quick goals of her own—one in the 4th minute and another in the 8th—both the product of sharp attacking combinations, with Weston providing the assist on Kelly's second finish.
The offensive surge continued as Ella Wallaker found the top corner in the 10th minute off a setup from Marcela Facundo. Moments later, Alexa Verhelst added another goal, assisted by Kelly, extending the lead to 6-0 within the opening 15 minutes.
The Pioneers maintained dominant possession throughout, generating quality chances from multiple players and positions. In the 21st minute, Molly Siler delivered a perfectly placed corner to Nia Smith, who buried a powerful header to the far post. Siler continued her strong play with an assist on the next goal, finished by Brooke Swartz. Kelly and Weston connected again soon after, with Kelly returning the favor from earlier in the match to assist Weston's second goal in the 27th minute. Wallaker later provided an assist to Marcela Facundo, who added her name to the scoresheet. To close out the scoring, Swartz netted her second goal of the day off a well-placed pass from Maddy Gracias, sealing the 12-0 victory.
With this result, the Pioneers improved to 8-0-1 overall, 6-0 in conference play, and 7-0 in regional competition. The team will look to continue its undefeated conference campaign on the road against Marian University Ancilla on Saturday, October 11.
