Delta College Sweeps Montcalm Community College on Sophomore Night
The Delta College Volleyball team continued its strong season with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Montcalm Community College on Wednesday night inside Pioneer Gym. The Pioneers took control early and never looked back, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-18.
Alexis Champagne led the way offensively with 10 kills, hitting .192 and totaling 11.5 points. Makenzie Nearman followed closely with eight kills and a .267 hitting percentage, while Charlotte Fournier and Olivia Boensch each added five kills to round out Delta's balanced attack. Setter Cassie Jenema fueled the offense with 13 assists and contributed four digs and two block assists.
On the defensive end, Sienna Ouendag anchored the back row with 17 digs, while Allison Richmond added 10 digs to help the Pioneers hold Montcalm to a .000 hitting percentage for the match. Delta also recorded 8 service aces and 12 block assists, controlling the pace on both sides of the net.
The Pioneers aren't finished yet. They will host Lorain Community College for the NJCAA Division III Region 12 Championship next Tuesday night at Pioneer Gym.
