RECAP: Delta College softball went 3-2 to start out in conference play over the weekend at Sports Force Parks. The Pioneers opened Friday with a high-scoring 12-11 victory over Mid-Michigan before falling to Grand Rapids CC. On Saturday, Delta dominated Bay College in a 16-1 blowout and lost in a 12-inning game to Muskegon CC. Sunday, they finished out the weekend against Alpena and came out on top, beating the Lumberjacks 12-4.
FRIDAY: MID MICHIGAN & GRCC
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (VS. MID MICHIGAN)
Delta College jumped out to a massive lead early, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings and adding six in the third to lead 12-2.
Geena Gauthier provided the power with a home run and four RBIs.
Mid-Michigan mounted a late comeback, scoring eight runs across the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, but Delta held the one-run win.

The Raiders' offense proved too much for the Pioneers, scoring five runs in the first inning and 10 in the fourth.
Delta struggled to find rhythm, recording only two runs on six hits.
Kortney Kotenko and Geena Gauthier drove in the only runs for Delta, both coming on doubles.

Delta completely dominated from the start, scoring seven runs in the first inning and five more in the third. The game was called after five innings due to the run rule.
Pitcher Reese Dominowski was nearly untouchable, allowing only two hits over five innings.

In a defensive marathon that lasted 12 innings, both teams remained deadlocked at 4-4 through the 11th.
Muskegon finally broke the tie in the top of the 12th, scoring two runs to take a 6-4 lead.
Geena Gauthier pitched the entire 12-inning contest, throwing 171 pitches and striking out eight.
