Delta Softball splits series with Mid Michigan College

RECAP: The Delta College Pioneers displayed incredible offensive resilience this weekend, splitting a four-game series against Mid-Michigan College. Over the course of the two-day doubleheaders, the Pioneers combined for 25 runs and 40 hits, fighting through several high-scoring battles to secure two hard-fought victories.

GAME ONE TOP PERFORMERS  

• Taylor Belanger led the charge, going 3-for-4. 

• Geena Gauthier provided the power with 2 RBIs 

• Grace Zwetzig reached base three times and swiped two bases.

RECAP: The Pioneers struggled to find their rhythm in the nightcap. Kortney Kotenko provided the lone RBI, driving in Izabel Lathrom, who had doubled earlier in the inning. The offense was held to six hits as the Lakers pulled away late.

RECAP: Game 3 featured 21 total runs and 24 hits, the Pioneers nearly pulled off a massive comeback. Down 11-8 in the final frames, Delta fought back within one run but ultimately fell just short.

• Hannah Hycki was a force, going 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored. 

• Kennady Tiitola drove in 3 RBIs 

• Kortney Kotenko and McKayla Methner each added two hits in the narrow loss.

RECAP: Delta showed their character in the series finale, bouncing back to earn a 7-6 win and the series split. The Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and held off a late Laker surge to clinch the victory.

GAME FOUR TOP PERFORMERS  

• Kortney Kotenko went 3-for-4, finishing the weekend. 

• Taylor Belanger stayed hot with a 2-for-3 performance and an RBI. 

• Reese Dominowski threw 5.0 solid innings, allowing only one earned run. 

• Geena Gauthier entered in relief to throw 2.0 scoreless innings, striking out two to shut the door on the weekend.
