Pioneers Fall to #8 Schoolcraft College
University Center, MI – The Delta College Women's Basketball team ran into a formidable challenge Monday night, falling to No. 8-ranked Schoolcraft College, 91–55.
Delta struggled to find an offensive rhythm early, trailing 20–15 after the first quarter. Despite collecting 12 rebounds in the opening frame, the Pioneers shot just 7-for-23 from the field, allowing Schoolcraft to maintain a narrow edge.
The second quarter proved even more difficult for the Pioneers, as the Ocelots extended their lead behind efficient shooting and intense defensive pressure. Delta managed only 12 points in the period while giving up 27, heading into halftime down 47–27.
Out of the break, the Pioneers showed flashes of improvement defensively in the third quarter, holding Schoolcraft to 18 points. However, Delta continued to struggle offensively, shooting just 25.0% from the field in the period and unable to generate consistent scoring opportunities.
Any momentum was short-lived in the fourth quarter, as Schoolcraft pulled away to secure the 91–55 victory. Delta shot 27.3% from the field for the game and 10.5% from three-point range, while Schoolcraft finished shooting 43.4% overall.
Makayla Watkins and Aya Mosley each contributed five points to lead Delta, while Damaya Hartwick added six points, five assists, and eight rebounds. Bella Smith chipped in seven points and six rebounds, providing energy in the paint.
