Delta College Women's Soccer Claims their 2nd consecutive National Title!
Herkimer, N.Y. — The Delta College Pioneers Women's Soccer Team captured its second straight and third overall NJCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday, defeating Dallas-Brookhaven 1–0 in overtime.
The Pioneers (18-0-1) earned back-to-back titles for the second time in program history, once again edging Brookhaven (16-2-2) in a tightly contested match.
Sophomore Isabella Workman delivered the game-winner in the 97th minute, drilling a goal into the net for the lone goal of the match. The golden-goal finish came after a tense stretch of chances on both ends to open overtime.
Delta's goalkeeper, Mia Warner, was pivotal throughout the contest, making seven saves to preserve the shutout. The Pioneers generated consistent pressure offensively as well, forcing Brookhaven keeper Miranda Estrada into nine saves.
Brookhaven outshot Delta 6–2 in the first half, but the Pioneers responded by controlling the second half with a 6–3 shot advantage before carrying that momentum into overtime.
